This document contains a brief listing of suggested ways you can incorporate vocabulary into your math instruction. I would be glad to demonstrate any of these strategies for you.



Below are links to vocabulary cards to use with your units. I created these cards with fifth grade students in mind. Use only the cards that work with the level of your students.
One great way to utilize these cards is to have your students complete a concept map. A concept map is a visual representation of concepts with linking connections to show relationships. Teachers can use these maps to assess student's knowledge. The activity engages students and allows them to analyze their own thinking as they reflect on their conceptual understandings.

Linking Arrows to use with your maps: I use toothpicks or straws to connect ideas along with the arrows.
